The challenge was to create a single source of truth that served everyone—from designers and developers to marketing—without interrupting our ongoing deliveries. Without a shared source of truth, developers, marketers, and designers were spending more time aligning than creating.

ROLE: SENIOR PRODUCT DESIGNER
DURATION: 3 MONTHS
YEAR: 2024
We embarked on a mission to build a design system from the ground up, embedded within our fast-paced, weekly release cycle. A crucial early step was to audit our existing assets across iOS, Android, and Web: mapping inconsistencies, identifying repeated elements, and consulting with engineering and marketing stakeholders.
We chose Figma as the foundation for our component library, enabling real-time collaboration and ensuring immediate accessibility for the entire team.
Rather than halting delivery to build the system in isolation, we integrated the work into our daily process. Every new screen, component, or marketing asset became an opportunity to document and standardize. This parallel approach ensured our evolving product didn't slow down and that adoption of the system was gradual and organic.
The result was a reliable design library that unified every aspect of IFTTT’s visual identity. From buttons and typography to illustrations and marketing templates, the system covered all necessary variations while remaining flexible enough to scale.
